SUZY HINGSTON
Accredited Mental Health Social Worker
Family Therapist
I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and Family Therapist with extensive experience supporting young people, families and individuals in public mental health settings and in community settings. In my work I bring a sense of curiosity, compassion and authenticity to my work creating a safe reflective space to collaboratively explore your unique experiences and strengths. I am neuro-affirming, LGBTQIA+ inclusive and welcome a diverse range of identities, relationship structures and lived experiences.
I am passionate about supporting you to enhance your relationship with yourself and with your loved ones so that you can move forward with a greater sense of meaning, purpose and confidence in facing life’s ups and downs.
I am experienced in supporting people aged 12-25, and families who are navigating adjustment difficulties and life transitions including those connected to developmental stages, role changes and identity. I especially enjoy considering the deeper existential side of these experiences supporting you to explore questions of meaning and decision making.
As a Family Therapist I understand the vital importance of relationships in enhancing our wellbeing and have a particular interest in working with parent/child dyads, siblings, co-parents, caregivers, grandparents and friends experiencing carer burnout, communication difficulties, repeated conflicts or uncertainty in the face of broader life experiences. My approach is collaborative and affirming, recognising the strengths, perspectives, and unique needs of each person and what they bring to their relationships.
